I follow http://triciasfrugalfinds.com/.
I found another site that offers WNY deals, but the blogger goes
one step further, she introduces us to all the other deal bloggers.
I love that they do all the work, find all the
matchups and fill us in on our local deals.
The weekly column is called get to know your local bloggers
http://momscouponaffair.com/2012/01/30/get-to-know-your-local-bloggers-rainy-day-pennies/
Read the entire posting and at the bottom it will link you to the
other blogs in the area, along with their interview. See

In general I don't like "deal" blogs because they encourage impluse
buying and consumerism. But I do see that they can be helpful when
you are looking for something in particular.
Some of the WNY bloggers are better than others, but I have yet to
find one who does coupon match-ups that are consistently accurate.
I don't have a favorite.
I tend to like blogs that are about REAL frugal living and not
about buying things. I love Trent Hamm's blog The Simple
Dollar and I also love Katy Wolk-Stanley's blog The
Non-Consumer Advocate. Those are my favorites. They are not
local writers, but their tips and advice are valuable throughout
the country.

I figure if someone wants to take the time, find all the deals,
link with a coupon, and I have to grocery shop anyway, what does it
hurt. Often times they find deals I missed, who really has the time
to examine the Tops ad weekly, not me. I agree in regards to sites
that push buying buying buying. I thought it was fun to read the
background on these bloggers, maybe I am secretly jealous they are
savvy enough to put together their sites. One thing that is cool
they are all LOCAL!! Go WNY'ers.

I read WNYdealsANDtoDos. I think Christina is pretty awesome (she's
done interviews as well on her blog), and I think some of her posts
show a humorous and resourceful side.

You know who has a great blog is www.frugalmakescents.blogspot.com
She is local and I wouldn't describe her as a deal blogger. She
actually gets into the nitty-gritty of how she saves money...in
specifics. She's not going to post coupons, deals, etc. She
really does just blog about how she saves, spends, cuts spending,
etc. She has some really good advice and ideas. Great site to
follow if you are trying to cut your spending.

That is precisely why I started this group instead of
starting a blog. It is a huge commitment to your readers to write a
blog and motivate people every day. Besides, there is no single
right way to practice frugality. I like hearing everyone's
perspective.
I stumbled upon WNYmoms.com (which then became BuffaloMLM and then
went back to being WNYmoms.com) in 2007 when I was googling "frugal
Buffalo." I was looking for a blogger, a guru, an expert, who lived
the same lifestyle I do. I came upon a post on WNYmoms.com by
BabeInCaptivity. (I am SOOOOO glad she is back with us
again.) I loved this site and I realized that there is no guru.
There are many experts. I realized that we all have something to
contribute and something to learn, from one another.
Blogs can be great, but when an individual is responsible for
regular content it can also get to a point where it is
all-consuming and then the content suffers. I've seen a lot of
blogs in which people have run out of things to say long ago. When
I first embraced frugality 20 years ago I subscribed to The
Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn. About a year or two after I
subscribed she decided to end it's run. She said that she had
already said everything she had to say without repeating herself.
She had given her readers the tools to do it all on their own. I
was disappointed, but I respected her decision.
Now that we have the internet, it's great that like-minded people
can form groups. Some people will be new to the frugal life and
others will be old pros. Hopefully this forum will allow everyone
to feel included no matter what stage they are at.
It's unfortunate that a blogger has to hang up her hat, but I
totally understand that it must have been a huge time committment
to keep it all current on her own. I am sure that she inspired many
people to be frugal and she should be proud of that.
