Leave Kirk Cameron Alone!

Kirk Cameron is an actor and a very devout evangelical Christian. In fact, he does very little work today as an actor in secular projects. He focuses on Christian projects because of his strong faith. Recently he was pressed, and I mean PRESSED, by interviewer Piers Morgan to discuss his personal views on homosexuality and how he would feel if one of his children was homosexual. Kirk Cameron answered honestly. His statements were tempered with compassion, but he was forthcoming with his religious belief that homosexuality is unnatural and sinful.

Now Kirk Cameron is being villified for his beliefs. Personally, I think that the way the media is perpetuating a backlash against him is horrible. Kirk Cameron didn't go out and try to harm the gay community. He didn't discriminate against anybody. He just answered the questions about his own personal religious beliefs. Attacking him for it is wrong.

I happen to be a Christian too, but I do not share most of Kirk Cameron's beliefs. If I had a child who was homosexual, I would not have a problem with it. If gay marriage were up to a vote, I would be in favor of approving it. So in that respect, Kirk Cameron and I are on opposite sides of the issue. But I support his right to hold his own religious beliefs and I respect him for his honesty and bravery in stating them, even though I do not share them.

If you want freedom in this country, then you have to support everyone's freedom and not just your own. No one should be silenced or forced to lie about their beliefs. This is America. Leave Kirk Cameron alone!

I agree 100% too! It's interesting how people in the U.S. are screaming about the violations of Freedom of Speech these days, yet attacking anyone who states an opinion that might offend someone else. We don't have to agree with Kirk Cameron, but he has every right to his own thoughts and to speak about them (especially when asked!).

Kirk will be on the Today Show this morning. If you miss it, I'm sure the interview will be online later in the day to watch.

I think he stated his case pretty well on the Today Show.

If you ask me, this is very purposeful marketing. He is not surprised. Who has been talking about Kirk Cameron these days? Welp, we are now. Now that he has a documentary coming out. Don't underestimate his publicists.

That being said, I agree wholeheartedly (with you, not him).
