When I went to Tops today I tried to use a catalina (register)
coupon and a coupon that I found in the the newspaper on the same
product. The cashier said that I wasn't allowed to do this since
both were considered manufacturer's coupons. But I can't tell you
how many times I have done this in the past with no problem
whatsoever. So now I'm wondering if I just got lucky in my previous
trips to the store. Is this really not allowed? What do you think?

They are both manufacturer's coupons so it is not permissible to
use more than one on the same product. I'm not sure why you were
able to do it in the past. You can use a store coupon with a
manufacturer's coupons, but not two manufacturer's coupons.
Manufacturer's coupons have a barcode that does not start with
zero. Most of the time store coupons start with a zero.

Thanks - knew you would have the answer. I guess I got a little
extra savings here and there because I know that I combined them
before without any problem. I always thought they were different
and they were always accepted so I never really looked into it.
Guess you can learn something new here everyday :) I haven't been
doing as much couponing as I used to so maybe they stood out a
little more than they used to. Oh well - guess I won't be doing
that anymore!

You know, you got me thinking. I wonder if at some point the store
was using the Catalina machines to distribute some store coupons as
well. If that were the case, the store coupon could be stacked with
the manurfacturer's coupon. You really have to look at that bar
code and the fine print. Sometimes they don't make it easy, though.
