Do you clean your dishwasher?

Lately, I've noticed my dishes aren't as clean as I would expect
them to be, but I could do a better job of rinsing them before I
put them in the dishwasher. Just wondering if people clean their
dishwashers? My MIL says she uses vinegar & runs the cyle. What
do you use to clean it? I have a stainless steal dishwasher and
wouldn't want to use anything too strong that may damage it.

I don't clean it by running a cycle, but when I see that there is
residue build up on the inside I will give it a good wipe down
inside and out with Vinegar and water or Windex.

I add vinegar in the jet-dry-reserve, and sometimes run an empty
machine with a packet of lemon Kool-Aid, or wipe it down inside.

Takes a bit of movement, but get in there and clean out the drain
traps, they easily pull out, I do mine weekly, you could not
imagine the stuff that accumulates, bread wrapper ties, weird
plastic, seeds, food things. Wash it out well and put back in. I
use vinegar in the rinse cycle as well. My smart brother is an
appliance man, and he says people could save so much on repairs if
they just took a bit of time with the appliances and cleaned them
well. Same goes for the lint trap on the dryer, yes remove lint
everytime, but also take the screen to the sink and scrub it well,
the fabric softener can build up on the screen making it less
effective.

I buy the dishwasher cleaner. You put the stuff in and run a
regurlar cycle. We have a stainless steel dishwasher also and it
works fine.
