Did you have your son circumcised or is he still intact?

We had our twin boys both circumcised after they were born. Well
they were in the NICU for three weeks so they waited till right
before they were released to come home.

We circumcised our son for several reasons, which I could go into
if anyone wants to discuss it. My father was not circumcised and he
had severe problems with chronic infections that were transmitted
to my mother. He practiced excellent hygiene, he was never
intimated with any woman other than my mother, and there is no way
that his problems were his fault. (I have had numerous
anti-circumcision friends insist that my dad must not have had very
good hygiene and/or carried an STD and I know that that those
assumptions were not true.) So the family history alone would have
been reason enough to circumcise him at birth.

We did, but if we have another will definitely not be doing so. We
both wish more thought had gone into that decision and my husband
feels guilt everyday that our son did not have a choice in the
matter. (He feels the same way about piercing baby girls ears!)
Wish I could help you out, but hey, in the future if I have another
boy maybe you can be the one helping me

I have a friend that had a boyfriend in college that wasn't. He, at
25, got circumcised because of all the infections and problems he
went through because of not being circumcised.

We had our son circumcised when he was born. They took him for a
very short time and came back with a sleeping baby. The nurse said
he really didn't cry at all.FrugGail those are all the reasons we
had it done.

I do not like the term "intact." To me it seems like a slur or
insult.
People choose circumcision for many reasons. For some it is a
religious mandate. For others it is for medical reasons. For others
it is a cultural, familial, or personal preference. I wouldn't say
to someone who had their daughter's ears pierced that my daughter
is "still intact."
Just my opinion.

In my experience, boys (or sometimes men, later in life) seem to
have many issues when not being circumsized as babies. I'm from
Germany originally and no one over in Europe circumsizes their
boys, unless for religious reasons. Many of my little (male)
cousins and my friends' boys have had issues and had to have a
circumcision down the road due to re-occuring infections or because
the foreskin did not grow and the poor littlies were in a lot of
pain (sorry, TMI probably). Of course, every child is different and
your son may not ever have any issues with this - it's all a
personal choice. Just wanted to tell you what I've
heard/experienced on this issue :)
