I just love JCPenney, especially the store at the Eastern
Hills Mall. Not only do they have outstanding customer service
(which is VERY important to me) but I manage to find amazing
bargains there as well.
JCPenney routinely sends out great coupons, especially to
people who use their store credit card. Although I am not someone
who recommends that you have a lot of credit cards, some stores
offer their cardholders a lot of perks and JCPenney is certainly
one of them. If you are disciplined enough to pay off your
balances, the JCPenney card is a good one to have. JCPenney also
sends their customers small gift certificates (FREE money!)
around holidays and several times throughout the year. I have
recieved well over $100 this year in free "Card Perks" as they
call them.
There is also the option of the JCPenney Rewards program.
If you spend enough in one month, you'll earn 250 reward points
and qualify for a $10 reward certificate (emailed to you) the
next month. Again, this is FREE money. You just have to register
a credit card with them to join. CLICK HERE to check out their program. You get 1
point for each dollar you spend and the points are rounded up for
each item you buy . You can also get a 25% point bonus if you use
your JCPenney store credit card, as oppossed to another credit
card. And you get double points if you made a purchase (even a $1
purchase) the month before. The points can add up quickly. These
$10 reward certificates can be used in conjuction with other
coupons as well.
And in case you haven't heard me mention it a million times
before, I love the JCPenney photo studio at the Eastern Hills
Mall too. I get all my kids' portraits done there and they truly
are excellent! My favorite photographers are Sandy the manager
and two of her best photographers, Heather and Anna.
If you are getting great bargains at JCPenney or want to
alert us to a new JCP coupon, please post here. Thanks.

I got a $10 reward in the mail last week, or a few weeks ago. It
doesn't expire for awhile.
Did you know that you can register a different credit card and earn
the rewards too?!?!?

I too LOVE JCPenneys but had an annoying situation there tonight.
Mom and I went in with 6 coupons between the two of us. She had a
rewards and a birthday one plus the 10 off/25. I had two from the
mail 10 off/10 and a 10off/25. Now we knew to separate transactions
as some coupons cannot be combined. Well when I asked the girl if
we needed a printed version of the 10off/25 she said (rudely) yes.
(This was new to me usually they have one to scan right at
register)Does the commercial on TV not make it sound like you save
10 immediately when you shop?? (their hit on Kohls) So I walked to
the door and picked up a copy as I knew they were usually placed
there. What upset me was this...why could she not say...you do but
there are some available right there( I worked retail and wanted to
help the consumer save!!).... So I handed it to mom and walked away
as I did not want to have it out with this girl. Well mom got
flustered and didn't remember to further separate her transaction.
She ended up spending over another $100, which could have been
split saving her at least 30 if not 40 more!! After I found out I
did go back in and got $10 more taken off. As annoyed as I was when
I get home I see a super 6 hr sale tomorrow morning. Half the
things we bought are on sale further...and you can of course still
use the coupons. I wish we had known this earlier tonight!!! So mom
is returning in the am to see if they will do a price adjustment
and if not I plan on going to rebuy everything and she can just
return the other items. Normally I would say move on but I feel
like she lost a lot of money with this nonsense and even more if we
dont try for tomorrow's savings. Sorry long rant over!!

I was talking to a girl at work who has a relative that works at
JCP and they just put in new rules regarding coupons and one is
that they will not have coupons at the register. I guess some of
the cashiers aren't happy about some of the new rules.

For all the jcpenney shoppers, here's a question. How do you think
jcpenney compares to prices at Kohls? I often go I Kohls when they
have the 30% off coupon and I load up. I think their prices are
expensive otherwise. How do you think the prices compare? I went
there last night and used my 10 off $25 coupon. The store seems
very similar to Kohls. I'm going to fill out my customer survey to
get my 15%. Is that going to make the stores equal??? Seems like
JCPenney is trying to lure kohls customers.

That's funny because I always thought it was the other way around.
I do amazingly well at JCPenney. I get a lot more perks there for
having a JCP credit card than I do from Kohl's having a Kohl's
credit card.

I dont know about comparing Kohls to Penneys since I have been in a
Kohls store like 3 times in my life. I think that Penneys has some
great deals on clearance and with their coupons.
Here is a question for all of the Penneys veterans out there, can I
use the 15% off from the survey on Black Friday? Also can you use
them with another coupon?
I got some great deals lastnight at Penneys, a pair of jeans for my
husband, and two outfits for my one year old, all for $21!

Did you hear the news that JCPenney is shcnging their entire
approach? They are cutting their base prices by up to 40% and
getting rid of all the fluctuating sales and constant
coupons.
I am eager to see how this will play out. It is probably a better
system for most shoppers, but I had their whole coupon system so
figured out that I was often getting things for less than what it
must have cost to make them. Perhaps too many people had figured
that out. I don't know.
I hope they will still offer the coupons for completing a survey. I
know that they will continue their JCPenney Rewards program, thank
goodness.
So what do you think about these changes?

Wow! They've got you worked up...what's "shcnging". ;) I caught
this and I'm not sure what to make of it. The original prices of
most items are heavily inflated so they can give a high percentage
off sale. It sounds like this everyday pricing might get rid of
that inflated price but I'll have to wait and see what the everyday
prices will be.

Did you get your February issue of jcp? Mine came in the mail
yesterday. Here's some of what their plan is:
"We won't make anyone jump through hoops to get a good price. We
won't fill mailboxes with junk. We'll have great prices every day
and spectacular prices that last a whole month.
We'll keep dreaming up new ways to make you love shopping again,
matching our calendar to the rhythm of your life. We want to be
your favorite store".
Everyday Prices: no need for coupons. No weekend
sale. Red prices mean great prices,k everyday.
Month-Long Values: the best stuff of the month on
sale for the entire month; just look for the white price.
Best Prices: Mark your calendars, every 1st and
3rd Friday we mark it way down. On February 3 and 17, see it in
blue and grab it quick!

Perfect! Our coupon swaps are usually the first Friday of each
month, so that will be my day to stay and shop at JCP. (The April
swap will be one week early, in March, so that we aren't swapping
on Good Friday when many of us are in church and many more of us
have kids home from school.)

The cashier said today to use up any survey coupons because
they wont be accepting/offering them anymore after next week.

I was there today. They have already changed the register tapes so
that there is no more offer on the back for the survey.
The prices are not bad. They are all in whole numbers now. It's
easy to see that regular price is red and clearance is blue. Kids
clearance items that I was looking at were $3 and $5. I think that
is their rock bottom price. I am afriad that JCP won't be as good
as it used to be for me. I used to play their game with all the
sales and coupons and get things for pennies. I think those days
are over.

JCP OMG!
After yesterday's swap I headed over to JCP since they have their
markdowns on the first and third Fridays now. I have to admit that
I was disappointed when JCP first announced that they were getting
rid of coupons because I had their system figured out and knew how
to work it to my benefit for maximum savings. But now that I have
been there on a few of their clearance days I am very impressed
with the bargains under the new system.
Here's the thing: You MUST get there early. The place is mobbed
with bargain hunters on clearance day and the stuff flies off the
shelves. When I arrived shortly after noon the lines were quite
long and a lot of the moms in line had piles and piles of winter
coats. One mom told me that she was buying coats for her kids in
every size and packing them away. Another mom told me that she was
grabbing them for a charity. Why? Kids winter coats were all marked
down to $2 each. I would have gotten some, but they were all gone
already.
I was able to get my daughter "slim" jeans for the next 3 years at
$2 per pair. These were nice, adjustable waist jeans that
originated at $25-$30 per pair. It's hard to find "slim" jeans so I
grabbed what I could find in her current size and the next two
sizes up. Then I found some nice shirts for my son. They are too
big to fit him now but they were really good quality and they were
marked down from $30 to $2. When I got home with them I showed my
husband and he saw that the brand's initials were on each shirt. He
pointed at it and I said, "Yeah, I wish it didn't have the brand on
it but they were so cheap." He looked at me like I was crazy and
said, "Those are our son's initials!" OMG! I didn't even realize
it. I had only bought 4 and I wished that I had gotten more, so I
went back a few hours later while my family was out that way and
when I went in the entire shelf was empty. Dozens of shirts were
gone in only a few hours.
Lesson learned. JCP markdown days are great, but you need to get
there early and if you like something get it because it won't be
there later.

Yeah. You couldn't get used jeans and shirts at a consignment shop
for that price.

I went to the First Friday Markdown Day today.
BOOTS!!!
I got 3 pairs of boots for my daughter for $5 per pair. The
original prices were $50-60. I got 2 pairs of boots for myself for
$7 per pair. The original prices were $90-100!
I also got pants and tops for my daughter as low as $2 each and
pants for my teen for $8. And I got some nice shirts for my husband
for $2 and $4.
There weren't as many markdowns as last month, but it wasn't nearly
as crowded either. And the things that were marked down were marked
down very low. No complaints from me!

I did run through the store today but I had a "sun" with me and
it's hard to really dig through the racks. I didn't notice anything
great today but I was there later and didn't even hit the shoe
area. I did pick up a few things for really good sale prices for my
son's birthday at Target so the day wasn't a total loss.

Today was my first day out of the house since my surgery (not
counting walking once around the block yesterday) and I had to run
a short errand. Well... JCP was nearby and it was markdown day, so
I had to stop by. (I've been going a little stir crazy.) I got
jeans for my daughter marked down from $30 to $3 and sweaters for
myself for next winter marked down from $54-60 to $4. I was very
pleased. Then I went home and realized that I overdid it and should
have stayed in bed. But I got a few good bargains!

I went last weekend and got my son a pair of pajama bottoms (he's
in men's) for $3. I was at a dinner this past Thursday night -- my
daughter's friend had a beautiful black dress on (very elegant) and
she paid $10!
