Has anyone ever been to Walt Disney World over the February
President's Week Break? I would love to know how crowded it
gets.
Two years ago we took our kids out of school in September to go
to Disney and we had the time of our lives. It was very
inexpensive and there were no crowds. But now that my oldest
child is in middle school, he doesn't want to miss any school for
fear of missing too much work. I won't go there over Christmas or
Easter break, so I am considering February. Since only the
northeast schools have that week off I am hoping that the crowds
wouldn't be too bad. What do you think?

I was actually just trying to find out busy times because we are
also trying to plan a trip. The website I found said that
President's week is listed under Highest Attendance. They have it
broken down into 3 categories - lowest, moderate, highest. Hope
this helps. Good luck.

What about the end of August since most parts of the country head
back to school before Labor Day? I wonder if a travel agent (or
even the 800 Disney #) could let you know when the busy times would
be.

My husband wants to go to Disney over Christmas. It's going to cost
a ton! I am still working on talking him out of it, but it's his
off season so that's why he wants to go then. Our kids actually
want to stay home so...

We'll be at Disney Land during the February break for a day or two,
shouldn't be to bad I was told. Not sure how that compares to
Disney World though.

I looked at a different site today that said it was only
"moderate" except for the weekend, which is highest. So I am
confused by what I see on the internet.

I would think the weekend during that time would be busy since it's
President's Weekend and most people have the long weekend off from
work and school.

We went south last summer after most of the country started
school, I think it was the 3rd week in August, and the crowds
were very light but it was
blaaaaazing hot. We were in Georgia,
about 3 - 4 hours from Orlando, but I'm thinking it would be
about the same temp, if not hotter.

It was really hot in 09 when we went in September. It was in the
90's every day, but we put the pool to good use!

We went over spring break a couple years ago, and it honestly
wasn't too bad. There were lines at some of the attractions, but
they went pretty fast. I also used a schedule I found in a book
about Disney that I couldn't have lived without! The schedule was
called something like "Disney do or die in a day" and was
specifically geared towards little kids. It outlined what to hit at
what time based on research they had done to avoid long wait times,
and it worked! It also factored in nap time and meals.
The weather was perfect, too. It was in the 80's during the day
and cooled down a bit at night. We are planning to go this coming
spring break again.

Went during the Feb. break last year and it was fine. No crowds.
The best part was that the weather was perfect so you weren't
sweating bullets the whole time.

We went in Feb 2006 during presidents week and it was busier than I
thought it would be but tolerable. The europeans have their
"holiday" then so there were ALOT of europeans. It wasn't too hot
either. we swam 2 of 7 days. It made standing in line so nice
compared to the heat of April or god forbid summer. We were
considering going Nov 2012 since my friend just got back and said
it was not crowded at all the 2nd week in nov. Has anyone gone in
November before? Would love to hear from anyone going at that time
of year.

I went in November many years ago, before I had kids. It was a
great time to go. No crowds and room prices were reduced for the
first 2 weeks of the month.

We are also considering the 2nd week in December 2012. Any thoughts
on that time of the year as opposed to beginning of Nov?

We went in the first week of December a couple years ago. It was
fantastic. They have such an incredible Christmas display - well,
it's the whole place really. I suggest watching some of the Disney
Christmas specials, they are usually on HGTV or somthing like that.
We loved going then, plus it is one of their slowest times of year.
We did have one and a half rainy days, but it wasn't too bad. We
had ponchos and did the indoor things, plus a little relaxing in
our rooms that was much needed!
Check out the Disney guides if you have never been before. They
offer a lot of information and will help with your decision.

Gail we are actually going over Feb break. My mom goes every year,
and she said other than the weekends it's pretty dead. Most of the
other states have their breaks over march and April. We are staying
at a condo about 15 min from Disney, and are driving down since my
Dr won't approve me flying after 24 weeks. We are all super excited
since we haven't had a vacation in 2 years now. Are you going Gail?

No. The timing isn't going to work for us. I need some minor
surgery and we are probably going to save my husband's time off for
Easter break and go to Virginia with friends. Perhaps next year. We
really want to go, but just can't decide when.

What about the end of August since most parts of the country head
back to school before Labor Day?
This is exactly what we ended up doing. Most of the country is
back to school and the end of August is the start of "Value
Season" at Disney. We got a great room rate and free
dining.
We ended up having to ditch our original Easter Break plans of
going to Virginia. My husband couldn't get off from work AND my
surgery got moved. (It's next week. I just got home from pre-op
testing.) So, since we haven't gone away in the last year at all,
we are taking advantage of Disney towards the end of August. We
just booked all our dining reservations and had no trouble at all
getting every single restaurant we wanted at the exact days and
times we wanted. And I am talking about almost all character
buffet meals (highly sought after) during their free dining
promotion. In other words, these restaurants should be totally
packed by now, yet we got every reservation we wanted. So I am
figuring that it won't be too crowded at that time of year.

Just found this post... we are Disney freaks in our house and we
are taking our 6th trip this July. Gail, you are right it won't be
as crowded toward the end of August. You might want your panchos!
It is hurricane season. My husband and I took our honeymoon one
month later than you are going and it rained every day but the last
day. Don't get me wrong, we got on every ride we wanted (no lines
since no one wanted to be out) and it was warm (not like our cold
rainy days). We will never go during the school year. It just seems
to much work to get a trip ready and get packed, get out of the
house, and then get back in time for school and what not during the
school breaks. And.... since I am a teacher I am not a proponent of
taking our son out of school for a vacation. I did get all of my
reservations as well! Have fun! We love it there, it really is the
"happiest place on the earth" for us!

The last time we went was in September and it rained only one day,
but we were on Tom Sawyer Island and were forced to get on the
rafts and return, weven though that forced us to get soaked. I'm
not too worried about hurricane season because we got trip
insurance... and good ponchos.
