Last summer I posted some pictures on our old site of giant
vegetables that my friend (and home improvement contractor)
Giovanni shared with me from his home garden. Another member here
messaged me last night and asked me to re-post the picture of the
giant Italian zucchini. So here it is:

(I hate this picture because it looks like I am wearing a tent.)

It's very mild. You have to peel it like a carrot and discard the
seeds, which are only at the bottom. Then cube it up and cook it
with onions in olive oil and then add it to tomato sauce to make a
delicious, chunky pasta sauce. I absolutely loved it.

So is that the actual size of the vegetabel or did something weird
happen to make it grow like that. I know you said it was an Italian
Zucchini but is that normal?

Yes, that is the average size, and not the biggest one he ever
grew. He brought the seeds over from Sicily and saves the seeds
every year. He built a little stand to grow them on so that they
hang over it and don't touch the ground. I imagine it is similar to
a bean pole or trellis.
